What are Polynucleotide Treatments?
Polynucleotide treatments are a groundbreaking approach that promotes healing and rejuvenation at a cellular level.
Derived from fish DNA, this increasingly popular treatment stimulates the production of new skin cells known as fibroblasts, collagen and elastin aiding the repair and rejuvenation of the skin. It’s a versatile treatment that is great for repairing the skin’s structure. By repairing the structure of the skin with new skin cells and increased collagen production, the effects of this treatment can be seen as a reduction in wrinkles, and improvement to scarring with a tighter and brighter complexion.
Targeted concerns such as Rosacia, Hyperpigmentation, hollow eyes and eye bags can also be treated well with Polynucelotides and give natural but noticeable results.
This treatment does not contain dermal filler or hyaluronic acid in and is a safe and natural way to rejuvenate the skin.
Who is suitable?
This treatment is suitable for all adults over the age of 18 with any age range.
A medical assessment and skin assessment will be done prior to treatment with contra-indications being:
Pregnant or breastfeeding
Active Infections
Taking immunosuppressants
Patients with autoimmune diseases
In some cases we still will be able to treat you, however this will be discussed within a consultation.
We are a clinic who are also happy and confident to say no if we feel that the treatment is not necessary or won’t benefit your facial profile.

Numbing cream is used prior to injections to help alleviate any discomfort.
Most people say it is painless with some feeling a slight discomfort on the initial injection.

3-4 sessions are required initially 2-3 weeks apart.
It is recommended to maintain skin health and results to have treatments every 6 months minimally.
This will allow your skin to be nourished, structurally repaired and at optimum skin health all year round.

Once you have completed your initial sessions, the longevity of this treatment is approximately 6 months - 9 months.
We tell our patients to come at least twice a year for a course of treatments to maintain good skin quality and repair the skin structurally throughout the year due to natural aggressors.
This treatment requires time to work as you are waiting for the boosted collagen to take effect on your skin.
You will start to feel your skin become tighter and brighter within the first couple of weeks with more noticeable results taking effect after you have completed your course of treatments. The wait is definitely worth it!

Bruising and swelling can occur post treatment, however these will subside within a couple of days post treatment with some bruising taking longer to heal patient dependent.

You can resume daily activities with only a few things that are advised against in the first 24 hours. This is to help aid healing and prevent infections.
This includes: exercise, use of saunas/swimming, consumption of alcohol and wearing make-up.
It is recommended to avoid any exposure to extreme heat for two weeks and avoid flying on an aircraft for at least 1 week.
Please book your treatments in advance if going on holiday to ensure time for your treatment to take effect and to have your review.
The recommended time for treatment pre-holiday is 4 weeks.
The Polynucleotide Treatment Process
CONSULTATION
You will receive a consultation prior to your treatment which will include an overview of the treatment process, a full facial assessment and a review of medical history to ensure you are suitable for this treatment.
Together we will discuss your individual treatment goals/concerns and outline a plan on how we will achieve this. A recommended skincare regime will be created for you to promote maximum results.
THE APPOINTMENT
At the beginning of the appointment, I will map out and mark the areas that require treatment. I will then perform a small amount of injections into the targeted areas.
Numbing cream is used prior to this treatment which minimises pain and discomfort. The appointment will last from 45-60 minutes.

AFTERCARE
Aftercare is an important part of your patient journey here at SMG Aesthetics and beauty.
You will be contacted after your appointment to see how you are getting on post treatments and a follow up appointment will be arranged to review your results and assess your treatments and progress with your care. You will be provided with emergency contact details if you have any concerns or worries post treatment.
