What are Profhilo Skin Boosters?
Skin boosters are a great treatment to help rehydrate the skin from the inside out.
This type of hyaluronic acid treatment is not a dermal filler treatment and is injected superficially into the dermis. Furthermore, this stimulates the production of collagen and elastin over a prolonged period which helps the skin repair and rehydrate itself.
The benefits to this treatment include, improved overall skin appearance, boosted hydration, improved skin elasticity and firmer skin, reduction in fine lines and wrinkles and an overall brighter and glowy appearance to the skin.
Who is suitable?
This treatment is suitable for all adults over the age of 18 with any age range.
A medical assessment and skin assessment will be done prior to treatment with contra-indications being:
Pregnant or breastfeeding
Active Infections
Taking immunosuppressants
Patients with autoimmune diseases
In some cases we still will be able to treat you, however this will be discussed within a consultation.
We are a clinic who are also happy and confident to say no if we feel that the treatment is not necessary or won’t benefit your facial profile.

Numbing cream is used prior to injections to help alleviate any discomfort.
Most people say it is painless with some feeling a slight discomfort on the initial injection.

2 sessions are required initially, 4 weeks apart with a maintenance dose required at 6 months.
This will allow your skin to be hydrated and glowy all year round.

Once you have completed your 3 initial sessions.
The longevity of this treatment is between 6-9 months with some people seeing the benefits up to 1 year later.
We tell our patients to come twice a year for these amazing injections for glowy skin all year round and a good boosted collagen supply to your skin.
This treatment requires time to work as you are waiting for the boosted collagen to take effect on your skin. You will start to feel your skin become tighter and more glowy within the first couple of weeks with more noticeable results taking effect around 6 weeks after your initial treatment. The wait is definitely worth it!

Bruising and swelling can be expected, however these will subside within couple of days post treatment.

You can resume daily activities with only a few things that are advised against in the first 24 hours. This is to help aid healing and prevent infections.
This includes: exercise, use of saunas/swimming, consumption of alcohol and wearing make-up.
It is recommended to avoid any exposure to extreme heat for two weeks and avoid flying on an aircraft for at least 1 week.
Please book your treatments in advance if going on holiday to ensure time for your treatment to take effect and to have your review.
The recommended time for treatment pre-holiday is 4 weeks.

CONSULTATION
You will receive a consultation prior to your treatment which will include an overview of the treatment process, a full facial assessment and a review of medical history to ensure you are suitable for this treatment.
Together we will discuss your individual treatment goals/concerns and outline a plan on how we will achieve this.
THE APPOINTMENT
At the beginning of the appointment, I will map out and mark the areas that require treatment.
I will then perform a small amount of injections into the targeted areas. Numbing cream is used prior to this treatment which minimises pain and discomfort.
The appointment will last from 45-60 minutes.

AFTERCARE
Aftercare is an important part of your patient journey here at SMG Aesthetics and beauty.
You will be contacted after your appointment to see how you are getting on post treatments and a follow up appointment will be arranged to review your results and assess your treatments and progress with your care. You will also be provided with emergency contact details, if you have any concerns or worries post treatment.
